I have chosen six different masthead ideas for my music magazine and explained why I had chosen it and its good and bad points.
Pulse - I have chosen this as one of my masthead ideas because it represents the pop music and how it relates to the pulpitation of the heart beat. Pop music allows their target audience to enjoy their music and creates an adrenaline to get their audience moving and motivated or relaxed. Heart rate often follows the tempo of a song as faster music increases heart rate and slower music decreases heart rate. I feel that this is a good masthead suitable for my magazine and would attract my target audience.
Repeat - Repeat represents how pop and alternative music is always being repeated over radio stations and also by their listeners. However, I do not want my target audience to think that my magazine features the same stories every issue. My target audience may also find the masthead slightly boring and less appealing.
Fresh - This masthead could be mistaken for a cook or health magazine. However, It represents the new music and 'fresh' gossips and information included in my magazine which targets my young audience.
Rhythm - This masthead idea is similar to 'Repeat', as it is a suitable title for my magazine genre, pop and alternative. Connoting that rhythm in music is a flow of different sounds, note lengths and beats. However, It may not appeal to my target audience as much as my other mastheads ideas.
Tune - This is another one of my masthead ideas. However, I feel that the name isn't catchy enough to attract my target audience, It is also plain and rather simple, therefore I will not use this as my magazine masthead.
Fusion - This will be the masthead for my music magazine as it is a suitable masthead name and it had the most votes on my poll from my target audience. 'Fusion' relates to my magazine genre as it will be based on pop music with a hybrid of alternative music. I feel that it is a catchy masthead and it would appeal to my target audience.
